Saturn in Pisces – March 2023-February 2026

Or how to navigate through karma, spirituality and time!

On March 7th, 2023, at 1.35pm GMT, Saturn will enter the sign of Pisces for about 3 years. It’s the first time since 2017 that the Lord of Karma and restriction leaves one of the signs he rules. So for the first time in 6 years, Saturn will feel quite uncomfortable in Pisces, like a fish out of water (bad pun intended).

More seriously, this massive celestial shift is happening for us, not to us. Even though Saturn is not the happiest in the mystical waters of Pisces, we can still find nuggets of wisdom through this transit. Wisdom is actually very related to both Saturn and Pisces. So let’s dive deep and go for some underwater treasure hunt!

Saturn is known in traditional astrology as the Great Malefic (such a hideous choice of words in my opinion) because the ringed planet is associated with heavy and difficult concepts such as time, restriction, limitations, karma. It also represents the Patriarch in every terrible way: distrustful of his progeny, strict, punishing, setting severe rules and so on… The mainstream trend is to consider Saturn as the fun breaker, the over serious, the boring one. However, like everything in life, there’s a another side to this story. And it’s worth a look.

Saturn is famous for being the Lord of Karma and behind the fear that this phrase raises, there’s pure magic. Saturn brings wonderful gifts to those who work hard to clean their karmic slate. He is also the Lord of Time and reminds us that when used well, Time is one of our most precious allies. It is, let’s not forget it, the biggest healer of all. Year after year, we learn, we grow, we expand, we try, we heal, we start again… How beautiful is this? And no, Saturn is not the fun breaker, he is the fun conscious one: if we have fun to the detriment of ourselves, others or an important project, he will come and nudge us to remember what is truly essential for us. Everything is sweeter when we take these traits into account, right?

The constellation of Pisces echoes the sounds of mystical waves, spiritual oceans, it represents flowing empathy and intuition and fresh creative juices. Pisces is a sign deeply connected to healing as well, healing the spirit, the soul, the space in between worlds so we can become lighter, brighter and more compassionate. The Piscean energy stands for transcendence, liminal spaces, mystics, guides, wise men and women, artists, empaths, listeners, messengers of different worlds.

Saturn might not swim as well as he wishes he could in Pisces but he can still guide us to the shore with important insight. Here is a list of some significant points for this transit:

  • It’s ok to have weaknesses, in facing them we can become stronger

  • We may not see clearly the path or direction we must take but we can always reconnect to our soul and higher self for guidance

  • Processing our feelings is essential to become better versions of ourselves; if not, we might feel overwhelmed or super anxious and it may lead to wrong decisions based on fear or urgency

  • Boundaries are important: if we tend to overextend them, we’ll pay a strong price (dishonesty, disappointment, nervousness, fatigue…)

  • Creativity is amazing and so can be structure: blend them together and you get projects that are sustainable, made for the long run and meaningful

  • When restrictions are especially tough to deal with, substances are not the solution; release the pressure with a few drinks if you must but look for more constructive ways of letting go (sound baths, salt baths, tantric yoga, qi gong, painting, forest bathing and so on)

Our goal is self-transcendence.
