Spring Equinox – Ostara

Or how to slowly but surely ease back into life and vitality!

On March 20th, 2023, we will officially enter springtime (in the Northern hemisphere) and celebrate the Spring Equinox or Ostara according to the Pagan and Wiccan calendars.

The day and night will be of equal length and after a long period of hibernation, introspection and retreat, life starts again. From flower buds blossoming to animals getting ready for mating season, this day is associated with renewal, freshness and fertility. This is also a perfect moment to plant seeds (literally and symbolically) and to celebrate new perspectives and dreams.

The crispness of the air in the morning, the tender green that covers fields and gardens and the timid yet growing sunlight infuse our lives with momentum and life force. Like a gentle reminder that we are alive and that we can start afresh. Nature has our back, let’s harmonise with her and draw a new sense of vitality from her awakening!

If you want to honour the cycles of Mother Nature and celebrate Ostara, here are a few tips for a ritualistic approach. The most important thing is to feel the energy and sync with it!

  • Listen to 432Hz frequencies, meditate or contemplate to open your mind to new possibilities.

  • Take a green candle and carve it with intentions. Then rub it with honey and cover it with dried dandelion flowers. Light it up and think deeply about your intentions and wishes. Let the candle burn until there’s nothing left and give thanks to Mother Nature.

  • Cook with fresh herbs and greens and use eggs in your recipes if you can. It’s very powerful to connect our bodies and nourishment with what a season can offer us.

  • If it’s possible, walk barefoot in nature to receive new creative energies from the earth. If it’s not, go for a hike or sit in a park and open yourself to the energetic frequencies of Spring.

Happy Ostara, may your life be filled with projects, dreams and hope!

It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.
