On August 16th, at 09:37 GMT, there’s an intense New Moon at 23° of Leo.

A New Moon occurs when the Sun and the Moon are conjunct in the same star sign. New Moons represent freshness, newness and beginnings and in Leo, there’s definitely a strong emphasis on fun, play and creativity. With the Sun, the Moon, Venus and Lilith in Leo, heart chakra and soul energies are coming off very strong. What lights me up? What makes my heart sing? What inspires me creatively?

This lunation highlights the ego, the personal or individual dreams and wishes but also the need to be open and flexible to change. Leo is a fixed sign that can be stubborn and stuck in its vision of a plan and in its way of doing things. Sometimes it prevents surprises or fresh perspectives from appearing. And this is when Uranus comes into play! There is a square between the Sun and the Moon (both at 23° of Leo) and Uranus at 23° of Taurus and this feels like a massive disruption in our plan. Uranus stands for sudden shifts, chaos, surprises and electricity and when it squares the Sun and the Moon it means above all that we are challenged in our very core and emotions. In other words, we may very well feel overwhelmed by chaotic or unexplainable emotions or even feel like nothing will happen as planned. And this is true. Everything will happen as it should.

Pluto in Capricorn is forming a lose trine to Uranus in Taurus and Mars in Virgo: energetic shifts are happening to support our inner growth and to put us on the right path. The trine between Mars in Virgo and Uranus in Taurus is very beneficial: despite the confusion we might face, we have the tools to take proper action and move on. Perhaps we lack a broader view of the situation, perhaps our own way of doing things is restrictive or inappropriate and all the different planets and aspects are here to help and support our soul growth.

I really feel like this New Moon in Leo is a needed restructure of our approach to action in order to be more authentic, more in tune with ourselves and more open to infinite possibilities. It’s a perfect time to set intentions based on feelings, not on results. How would like to feel?
